Mediterranean diet for weight loss, what’s good, what’s bad, and why you should stop dieting.

There are all kinds of diets for weight loss, such as Atkins, The Zone, Vegetarian, Weight Watchers, South Beach and Mediterranean Diet, but i say that there is no good diet, only sensible eating. However, Mediterranean Diet is the one that fits the description of "sensible eating" the most .

Mediterranean Diet has good varieties of protein from different sources: meat, nuts and fish. Fish has omega-3, its big +, because it considered to be a "good fat"

Mediterranean Diet has legumes and beans: source of protein and fibers.

Mediterranean Diet has complex carbohydrates (i like it.)

Mediterranean Diet has a lot of vegetables.

Mediterranean Diet has olive oil, again big plus!

Mediterranean Diet has red wine! and if you can limit your consumption to 2 oz, it could be very beneficial as a source of anti-oxidants.

Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Ranch Dressing (IF*)

In partnership with FaveDiets, I wanted to provide my answer to what salad dressings do you eat on Induction. Many ranch dressings are growing in their carb content and the amount of sugar in them. I wanted to show quick and easy it is to make your own ranch dressing. With it this simple, there is no reason to have to purchase it commercially ever.

For even more diet sauce ideas, Favediets sauces section can give you ideas on how to highlight your meals. ( http://www.favediets.com/Sauces/ ) Your meals do not need to be boring.

Atkins Diet Quick Hits: How often should I weigh myself?

***Join the Facebook fan page - http://www.facebook.com/AtkinsDietVideos My Low Carb Blog - http://www.atkinsdietgeek.com ***

I get asked or see many questions about how often one should weight themselves. The answer really depends on the person's mentality. I have seen many people who get extremely upset over the non-linear nature of the daily weight loss. There are many bounces in both directions up and down, but the long term direction should always be down. For these people I'd recommend weekly. The negative about weekly / monthly weighing is: * potential cram mentality (lax 5 days, and the extreme focus for 1 or 2 days); best to be consistently motivated

For myself, I used every day weighing, but fully admit that bad days could lead to negative feelings, depression, and for some greater likelihood to cheat. I appreciated that every day I was gauged and often validated in my low carb lifestyle.

In either case, I recommend measuring oneself to track where losses might be in concrete terms (looser clothes are easy to discount and miss). One's measurements can also help determine one's body fat percentage and prove fat loss even when the scale do not record all the changes.

Which one are you? * Daily weigher -- I make sure I don't freak out at the slightest bounce, I like the daily affirmation and positive reinforcement * Infrequent (Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly ) weigher -- the daily bounces are of no concern to me, I am only interested in the long term weight loss * I don't weigh myself anymore, I trust my clothes, athletic performance, or measurements instead ** Like the Atkins Diet Videos Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AtkinsDietVideos/ ** Support my Patreon Site: https://www.patreon.com/AtkinsDietVideos ** Visit my Website: http://www.atkinsdietgeek.com ** Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kentaltena/ ** Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/kent.altena

The winner will receive one of Jennifer Eloff's cookbooks (Splendid Low-Carbing for Life -- http://low-carb.us/SplLowCarbForLife.shtml ). The featured ingredient is coconut. Submissions are due by May 8. *******************************************

Paillard is a method of cooking that pounds the meat flat, which tenderizes it and speeds cooking time. This chicken is sliced in half, and then pounded with a heavy object until thin. This method also tenderizes the chicken at the same time.

Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Cheesecake Squares (IF*)

***Join the Atkins Diet Video Facebook fan page -http://bit.ly/cHhF4B & My Low Carb Blog - http://www.atkinsdietgeek.com ***

In partnership with FaveDiets ( http://www.FaveDiets.com ) recipe site, this recipe was tweaked from another recipe used by permission developed by Jennifer Eloff. (http://low-carb-news.blogspot.com/2009/12/fruit-cocktail-cheesecake-squares.html) I bumped up the cream cheese (or actually neufchatel cheese) content and altered the crust slightly to my favored nut crust. I really like this recipe if you have company, and want to set some bars out for people to eat with their hands. The butter in the filling helps hold the cheesecake like a bar as opposed to how cheesecake typically feels.

If you do wish it to be Induction friendly, you can drop the fruit and the crust from the recipe, but of my reading of DANDR, the crust (sans whey protein) should be legal for those after the first 14-day Induction period. Here is the recipe as I made it:

Topping:

* 12 oz Neufchatel cream cheese, softened * 1 egg * ½ cup sour cream * ½ cup SPLENDA® Granular * 2 tbsp unsalted butter * 1 tsp vanilla extract * 1/2 cup canned fruit cocktai, strawberries, or blueberries

I bumped up the cream cheese a bit more to make the bars a bit bigger and a bit more like cheesecake. I estimate that I could get 18 small pieces from my recipe or more likely 12-15 servings.

Nutrition Information (per each of 15 servings) 188 Calories, 17g Fat, 6g Carbs, 1.5g Fiber, 5.7g Protein
