Dr Neal Barnard Debunking Paleo & Stoneage Diets

What is the diet that's designed for humans? In this audio excerpt Dr Neal Barnard explains why we are not designed for animal products.A plant based diet is our species specific diet. Consuming animal products causes dis-ease because our anatomy and physiology is not designed to handle these 'foods'

I believe a low fat raw food vegan diet is optimal for humans however a low fat plant based diet is still a wonderful way to start improving your health, lose weight, cure diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, IBS &Crohns, migraines, etc!

The Paleo Diet FACT or FICTION | Caveman Diet | Paleo Food List | Paleo Diet Weight Loss | Stone Age

🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitytransformation.com

Fat Loss Calculator: http://gravitytransformation.com/macro-calculator/

The paleo diet, also known as the caveman diet, and in the 70's as the stone age diet has become a really popular diet within recent years. Many people swear by it, and others claim that it's a fad diet that will lose popularity within 5 years. I'm going to break this diet down and then you can make your own decision about if it's right or wrong for you.

The diet is based on the idea that cavemen living tens of thousands of years ago were healthier and in better shape then us today because of their diet choices. Proponents of the paleo diet believe that the average HomoSapien back then was tall, muscular, agile, athletic, and incredibly versatile. Whereas now we are stressed out, over weight, and unhappy. So who is to blame? They say its agriculture. Farming has only been around for the last few thousand years, and before the agricultural revolution we were purely hunters and gathers. Many believe that we have not evolved to eat the majority of the food we're eating today especially processed food and grains. Paleo dieters claim that most people are gluten intolerant and gluten is found in grains. Also they say that lectins are natural toxins that exist within grains to defend against consumption! So say bye bye to bread, pasta, and all other wheat based products.

Basically if a caveman couldn't eat it, neither could you. The theory is that by eating like our prehistoric ancestors, we’ll be leaner and less likely to get diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other health problems.

The rules of the paleo diet are as follows: The diet is high in animal protein. Meat, eggs, organs, and fish are all encouraged. Pasture raised and grass-fed sources are preferred, and if you don't have access to these sources it is recommended that you choose lean meats. You must eliminate all processed food. The plan is low in carbohydrates and does not allow grains and legumes. This means no rice, wheat, rye, barley, oats, and beans. Certain variations of the paleo diet allow potatoes and sweet potatoes. I think incorporating some sweet potatoes would be a really good idea if you're very active because you'll need the extra carbs for energy. One thing that its really big on is vegetables especially green ones. You can have as many as you want in every meal. Low in fruits too, and when you eat fruit choose a low sugar option like berries. Low in nuts Eliminate all sugar. Aside from butter you have eliminate all other dairy No calorie counting nor portion control is necessary. You are allowed large amounts of saturated fat like butter, lard, and coconut oil, and you're encouraged to stay away from vegetable oils and hydrogenated oils. Which means that you can't have margarine, soybean oil, corn oil, peanut oil, canola oil, safflower oil and sunflower oil. The paleo diet is a lot more fond of using olive oil and avocado oil, but doesn't want you cooking with these oils. Cut out all grains and legumes from your diet

Can this diet work with helping you get healthier and lose weight, absolutely. I am not on the paleo diet, and I have mixed feelings on it, but that doesn't change the fact that it can definitely work for many people. Some people are gluten intolerant (granted a lot less people are gluten intolerant than all the gluten free hype wants you to believe) but if you are actually gluten intolerant this diet can be a life savior. Eliminating processed foods, dairy, and sugar out of your diet, alone can cause drastic changes in your health and weight. You'll definitely lose weight on any low carb diet and there is no denying this is a very low carb diet. In fact this aside from dairy products this diet is almost identical to the Atkins diet. Even though starchy carbs are packed full of phytonutrients they are also very calorie dense, and are your bodies preferred source of energy. So by eliminating most carbohydrates your body will have to become more efficient at using fat for energy. As you can see weight loss and fat loss is definitely possible with this plan. And its been proven that losing weight and fat will improve your health and immunity to diseases. However, that does not make this diet plan any better than any other

What makes any diet plan better than another is highly dependent on the person doing the diet. If you can't stick to the plan over a long term then it is going to be ineffective.

The Autoimmune Paleo diet (AIP) really works.

A recent study confirmed what functional medicine practitioners, like myself, have long since known — the autoimmune paleo (AIP) diet is HIGHLY successful for managing chronic health disorders.

The first-of-its-kind study showed the majority of participants quickly achieved and maintained remission of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis on the AIP diet. A number of participants were even able to discontinue drug therapies. That’s pretty powerful and big news!

I also happens to be news some people don’t want to hear.

Many people follow the AIP diet to manage not just Crohn’s but also chronic pain, Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, IBD (irritable bowel syndrome), skin rashes such as eczema or psoriasis, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, brain-based disorders such as Alzheimer and Parkinsons, diabetes, autoimmune diseases in general, and other chronic health problems.

So this type of diet is proving to be a very powerful health tool.

People are surprised to find that not only do their symptoms fade but also they enjoy more energy, better sleep, weight loss, increased libido (woohoo!), less stress, and a general overall improvement of their well being.

Just goes to show you that a little sacrifice and work with something as simple as your diet can go a loooooong way. So YES! FOOD IS MEDICINE!

A primary reason the diet is so effective is because it helps repair leaky gut, a condition in which the lining of the gut becomes inflamed and porous, allowing inflammatory compounds, toxins and proteins into the bloodstream that normally shouldn’t be there. This creates inflammation throughout the body and brain and leads to a wide variety of chronic gut, metabolic, and autoimmune disorders.

Check out my gut health webinar series I have recorded on my youtube channel. It’s also posted on my website under the videos section.

Anti-inflammatory is the key to the AIP diet

An anti-inflammatory diet focuses on whole foods and is free of inflammatory foods, additives, fillers, and artificial colors. It includes an accompanying protocol of appropriate sleep, physical activity, rest, and positive socialization and self-treatment. Certain nutritional compounds that gently cleanse and detoxify the body will boost the success of the diet, and are often necessary to fully heal and restore a leaky gut. Again, Check out my webinar series on healing the gut.

There are tons of articles and website on the AIP (Autoimmune Paleo) diet, but here are basics:

Is Paleo Diet Good To Get Rid Of Candida?

Paleo diets are flavour of the month, but in fact they have been around for many decades. Is this the correct eating approach when it comes to Candida eradication?

Greetings, greetings greetings. I got a question in from somebody. "Is the paleo diet good to get rid of candida?" Let's have a look at that one. I'm not sure if I've done a video previously on paleo diet.

Paleo diets are very interesting. Paleo diets have been around for thousands of years. In fact, my favorite book written in the 80s was called Paleolithic Prescription by Dr.s Eaton and Connor, a very good book. I can remember reading that book a long time ago thinking, "Wow, this is how I'll be eating for a long time. High protein." This has become quite a faddy kind of thing now, eating nuts and eating seeds and eatings meats and organ meats and bone broths, and these sorts of things. But is it a good way to get rid of candida?

Well, I can tell you now there's really no good particular diet to get rid of candida, because really the diet varies in some degree from person to person. The main tenets of a good anti-candida diet are taking the sugars out, the sodas out, the crap food out of the diet like pizzas and just crappy food, and by eating a higher quality diet.

Now, vegans can follow a candida diet, paleos can follow a candida diet, Muslims can follow that, Catholics can follow that. It doesn't matter what your belief system is because to me paleo is just another belief system.

Chances are if you're eating very healthy like me, you're probably eating kind of paleo already anyway. I would tend to be careful of really wacky or way out diets, and some of these diets are pretty crazy. I'm not going to mention some of them, but we've got some carbohydrate type of diets that I think are a little bit far fetched and way out. Paleo is quite a good approach, but it doesn't suit some people. Some people are not really going to like eating meat, for example. They're going to be looking at other kind of proteins.

I prefer this paleo approach because I feel eating this is a good level of satiety. You feel full when you've eaten some type of animal protein. I believe also it's conducive for health. It builds good blood health, good digestive health.

I get a little bit concerned with people who don't eat any meat at all, who just tend to eat vegetables and grains. I find that quite a difficult approach for candida. I find it a difficult approach to stop bloating and gas and bowel issues. You've got issues with sugars and fibers in many different kinds of vegetables.

If you've got poor bacteria, it can create a lot of digestive discomfort. If you've got issues with paleo and particularly with meat, try eggs. There are many different types of meats you can eat on a paleo approach. Maybe you don't like red meat, which I'm not a huge fan of. Maybe fish is better, some salmon or some sardines or fresh white filets. I'm not a big fan of shellfish or the bottom feeders. I get a bit concerned.

I just read an interesting article now on the amount of plastic found in bottom feeders for example. Fragments, because there's so many trillion tons of plastic in the ocean now, it's actually making its way into crustaceans as well. We have to be careful...
